It’s been quite a tiring week. I’ve just finished uploading and backing up thousands of photos from various events on the external hard drive and DVDs.
Now, sorting through and post processing the photos will commence. But for now I will leave you with this…
THE WONDERS OF BEING 7 YEARS OLD
Shooting an event is only the initial step in the evolution of an image. Satisfied with the 800++ images captured in the DSLR I head home immediately to upload to my Mac. Once the images are in the computer they all get screened and edited. Good ones get saved for the DVD and bad ones go to delete heaven. Ah, the convenience of modern technology.
However, there are those few images that I would love to post process even further in Photoshop. As a tribute to my Canon EOS 630 (circa 1988/89), the most modern film camera I’ve ever used, I decided to give these images the feel of grainy film from the late 80’s.
During my high school years (that’s like, 20 years ago!!) I took photos for the yearbook committee and there was only film. It was either you got the shot or non at all. No viewing LCD screen behind the SLR (Single Lens Reflex) and all you had was a guesstimate. But those were the days.
Some of the events I shoot are parties celebrating a 7th birthday. These are the fun ones. All the kids are running about and the photographer needs to be quick… more like lightning speed shooting. From one moment to the next happens in a second.
Need to be always on my toes trying to spot the next Kodak or as I like to say, Canon moment. This party in particular was quite a challenge as the children weren’t in one place watching the show on stage but running amok as fun activities were everywhere.
With colorful table centerpieces, an expert balloonist, a beautiful birthday cake and great food a good time was had by all! The night ended with the birthday celebrant happy as can be.
