BIRTHDAY AND CHRISTMAS ALL IN ONE PARTY
It’s the start of another work week to a brand spanking new decade. Happy new decade!
A cool party I had the pleasure of covering in the latter weeks of December. Yes, no vacation and almost all work (in between the holiday food parties, of course). And I have only just started to edit and process a few thousand photos from events this past month. Not to mention a few back log of photo books that need the final touch. 2010 is getting off to a good busy start!

After the devastation of typhoon Ondoy last September the Philippines is on it’s toes again waiting for the imminent erruption of Mayon volcano. In between, there was almost an unending wale of fire engine sirens across Metro Manila. There is no official head count on the sirens but 4 of the major fires that happened this December were caught on pixels from the watch tower.
Unfortunately, December isn’t even over yet. There are still New Years eve fireworks that are itching to light up the night sky.
December 4, 2009 fire leaves 291 families homeless in Valenzuela City. Each family expected to receive Pph5,000 financial assistance from the local government.
Decmeber 12, 2009, fire lasted 6 hours that started Thursday afternoon in Quiapo, Manila, leaving families homeless.
December 15, 2009, at 6 pm a blaze broke in a shantytown near house number 20 11th Street, New Manila, Quezon City. Close to 100 families were affected by the fire which is a few meters away from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Shrine along Broadway Street.
MANILA, Philippines, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Firefighters in the Philippine cities of Makati and Pasay put out a blaze that gutted 700 houses and left more than 3,000 families homeless, officials said.

UPDATE: JANUARY 03, 2010
Mayon volcano did not erupt as expected by The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) and alert level has dropped from 4 to 3. Citizens of Legaspi City can now go back to their homes after spending almost the entire holiday season in evacuation centers.
But the agency, in a bulletin issued Saturday, said the lowering of the alert level “should not be interpreted that the unrest of the volcano has ceased. Alert Level 4 means a hazardous eruption is possible in days. Alert Level 3 means a hazardous eruption is possible in weeks.” – Enquirer.net
IMMINENT ERUPTION: MAYON VOLCANO
I, like many other Filipinos, have been following the news on the imminent eruption of Mayon volcano in Legazpi city. It is very unfortunate that another disaster is about to ruin the festive season. This incident reminds me of the Tsunami in December 26, 2004 that hit the coast of Indonesia. Of which, some compared it to the devastation caused by the atomic bomb dropped on Heroshima that ended WWII. Lets hope that Mayon will not wreck such havoc.

The season is upon us. As I write this post it is exactly 19 days, 3 hours and 43 minutes til Christmas day. Wishing you all a safe and traffic free gift shopping season.
I have been post processing a few thousand photos from recent events-if you’ve noticed a lull in blog posting. But I will be posting more in the coming weeks as I take breaks in between processing sessions.
